The Team

Peter Robinson

Peter Robinson

Director + Designer

Peter is an experienced electronics engineer and an entrepreneur. Since leaving Newcastle University with a PhD in Acoustics he has worked in academia and large sonar companies. He has founded and run several small companies of his own, specialising in subsea system design and manufacture. He has designed sonars for a wide variety of applications ranging from submarine collision avoidance to imaging sonars for ROV mine hunting. Recently he has been working on high definition pipeline inspection sonars for oil and gas companies..

Phil Newby

Matt Chamberlain

Matt Chamberlain

Principal Engineer

Matt has over 10 years’ experience working as an electronics engineer in design and development departments, for both contract design and product design companies. This has incorporated development of embedded electronics, involving hardware and firmware design, for a range of projects, including subsea sonar equipment. These projects have involved team management, taking products from concept, through specification, schematic capture, PCB layout, embedded software design, prototype build and test, type approval validation and on to series production..

Colin Waddock

Colin Waddock

Mechatronics Engineer

Colin received his Masters in Mechatronic Systems Engineering from Lancaster University in 2009 and after a short time working for BAE Systems Submarine Solutions found a much more interesting post at Radix2. Day-to-day operations are varied depending on current projects but thanks to the wide range of tasks, Colin is just as comfortable designing large scale, subsea mechanical systems as he is microelectronics. Or building either of them for that matter. Recently a number of projects have required offshore capabilities so BOSIET and MIST training have been undertaken along with an offshore medical in preparation for this..

Adam Pelter

Adam Pelter

Project Engineer

Adam is currently a project engineer and heads a small but very diverse engineering team, enabling them to meet targets and complete projects efficiently, within budget. He has nearly 10 years experience in the oil and gas industry working all over the world both onshore & offshore. Graduating with a BSc in Logistics & Management, he started off as an Electronics Technician but soon progressed to be Operations Supervisor. As the project lead at Radix, Adam spends a lot of time out in the field, gaining experience working with lots of different equipment. Making sure the operations go to plan and are on target. Adam has gained a lot of experience with many different applications in this industry..

Joe Dowswell

Joe Dowswell

Software Engineer

While at Radix, Joe has developed a number of embedded firmwares for custom designed electronics and software for monitoring and controlling software over various communications networks, including CAN bus, SPI, ZigBee, and other UART technologies. He has five years of experience programming for embedded devices, custom linux builds and client monitoring applications. In his spare time, Joe administers the official fan-wiki of Brandon Sanderson (http://coppermind.net/) and has developed and contributed extensions and patches to the opensource software MediaWiki, which runs the Coppermind..

George Paddon

George Paddon

Electronics Technician

George joined Radix-2 Design in 2011 as an apprentice electronics technician where he attended Blackpool and the Fyled college one day a week for three years. Since then he has completed his apprenticeship while also achieving apprentice of the year in 2013. George is responsible for building and testing prototype assemblies, completing all types of documentation and procuring all materials and components..

Simon Senior

Simon Senior

Electronics Technician

This is Simon, he has worked at Radix-2 Design since December 2014. He is currently doing an apprenticeship in Engineering Manufacturing (Electrical and Electronics), he attends Blackpool and the Fylde college once a week and works the remaining 4 days. Simon is training to become an electronics technician and will be qualified in 2018. Some of his duties include, building and testing prototypes, contacting both suppliers and customers to meet deadlines, and completing documentation..
